Overhang

The overhang has been designed in such a way that it prevents overheating in the summer and provides heat gain and shelter in the winter. It will protect from the high angle of the suns rays in the summer but allow the low angle of the winter sun for additional heat gain.

To avoid over heating in the summer months, and avoid building full foundation and footings for the 2 storey additions, the second floor additions were extended minimally and seen only as a profile change in the west and south elevations.
